Official Agenda 2023 Vatican Apostolic Library - Limited and Collector's Edition.
The Agenda 2023 is an exclusive project for the BAV by Dutch artist and graphic designer Irma Boom.
The Vatican Apostolic Library continues its collaboration with world-renowned contemporary artists by entrusting Dutch artist and graphic designer Irma Boom with the creation of its official agenda and hosting a major exhibition of her work at its headquarters in the Cortile del Belvedere in the Vatican.
From the presentation by H.E. Monsignor Angelo Vincenzo Zani, Librarian of the Holy Roman Church: "Then came Irma Boom, the well-renowned Dutch book designer, who conceived an entirely new Agenda for us. Its interior aspect is striking: printed on thin medical paper, exhibiting fluorescent colours and with a sophisticated binding à la japonaise along with minimalist graphics, its book block is partitioned by coloured sheets; this astonishing object expresses her best commitment as a designer: Her daring designs (as quoted by Mathieu Lommen) help the printed book to resurface in the digital age, becoming irreplaceable and even exciting for both graphic designers and wider audience." But even more, with this fascinating booklet, our philosophy of time will undergo a substantial revolution. Its weekly planner template inevitably shrinks the space available to writing our daily self-inflicted constraints. At the same time, a blank, unfathomable universe, hidden within the interiors of the Japanese-bound folios, is potentially disclosable as long as one is brave enough to force their edges. By browsing through its double-printed pages, we discover that every odd page bears an ever-different (shrinking and expanding) phase of the moon, thus experiencing the inherent slowness of time, which flows effortlessly through the annual cycle of monthly moon phases. And when all seems at rest, BANG, ZANG, BOOM! New, frantic pictures from Futurist books remind us that time is dynamic."
