This little and straightforward essay explains the essential elements for the sacrament of baptism and the reasons for receiving it. The author’s aim is to rediscover the greatness of this Sacrament, reawakening in all the faithful the meaning and the foundation of baptism in our Christian life, i.e to live as saints and be purified as God’s children.

Cardinal Jorge Arturo Medina Estévez was born in Santiago de Chile and lived here for a long time. He cooperated with several Institutes of the Roman Curia, among which the Commission for the Revision of the Code of Canon Law and International Theological Commission. Currently, he is Prefect emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
