La canonizzazione dei Santi Combattenti nella storia della Chiesa

The volume examines the tricky topic of the beatification and canonization of a soldier, i.e whether a fighter, in spite of the ecclesiastical prohibition of the “effusio sanguinis” can be considered by the Church as an example for all the faithful to follow. The author analyzes the issue proposing a highly contemporary study which, in the light of canonical sources and of the acquisitions of the Second Vatican on the topic of holiness reasserts the old belief of the Church according to which “militare non est peccatum”.
 
Geraldina Boni, valid canonist from Bologna, is an ordinary professor of Canon and Ecclesiastical Law at the University of Bologna. She collaborates with the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and with the Italian Episcopal Conference.
